Aim: To observe reactivity differences between metals through displacement reactions.

Principle: A more reactive metal displaces a less reactive metal from its salt solution. E.g., Zn + CuSO₄ → ZnSO₄ + Cu

Reactivity Order: Mg > Zn > Fe > Cu > Ag

⚠️ Safety

Copper(II) sulfate is harmful if swallowed and an irritant — wash hands, do not taste.

Silver nitrate is corrosive, stains skin/clothes black, and is toxic — handle with care and collect as silver-containing waste.

• Iron(II) and zinc sulfate solutions are irritants — avoid skin/eye contact; wear goggles.

• Metal pieces/foil can have sharp edges — handle with forceps.

• Copper and silver residues are heavy-metal waste — do not pour down the sink; use the labelled waste container.
