⚠️ Safety
- Sodium reacts violently with water releasing flammable H₂ — use tiny pieces behind a safety screen, tongs, never touch with bare hands.
- Burning magnesium gives an intense UV glare — do not look directly at the flame.
- The acidic oxides P₄O₁₀, SO₂/SO₃, Cl₂O₇ and their fumes are corrosive/toxic — form them in a fume cupboard.
- Chlorine gas is toxic; phosphoric, sulfuric and perchloric acids are corrosive.
- Wear goggles and gloves; add oxides to water, not the reverse.
