Tests:

  • • Biuret: Violet color (peptide bonds)
  • • Xanthoproteic: Yellow → Orange (aromatic)
  • • Millon's: Red ppt (tyrosine)
Fats & Oils

Esters of fatty acids with glycerol (triglycerides).

Tests:

  • • Translucent spot: Greasy mark on paper
  • • Saponification: Soap formation with NaOH
  • • Sudan III: Red staining
