⚠️ Safety — Biomolecule Tests
- Molisch test: concentrated H₂SO₄ is highly corrosive and the dilution is strongly exothermic. Add the acid slowly down the side of a tilted tube to form a layer — never mix or shake. Wear goggles and gloves.
- Fehling's / Benedict's: heated in a boiling water bath — hot glassware and bumping liquid can spurt. Point the tube mouth away from people; use a test-tube holder.
- Biuret test: uses corrosive NaOH and CuSO₄ (harmful/irritant). Avoid skin and eye contact; rinse spills with plenty of water.
- Sudan III & solvents: the dye and any organic solvent are flammable and staining — keep away from flames and work in a ventilated area.
- General: treat biological samples hygienically, do not taste any reagent or sample, and wash hands after the session.
